The Carhartt Duck Detroit jacket is the one you reach for when the frost is still on the grass and you've got a full day ahead. A genuine farm-shed and yard-rail classic, this Carhartt jacket is built from heavyweight 12 oz cotton duck with a warm striped blanket lining — tough enough to shrug off gates, wire and tow bars while keeping the cold out. The quilted nylon sleeves slide easily over a jersey, and the relaxed fit with drop-tail hem lets you swing a gate, fork hay or climb in and out of the ute without it riding up.
Fit tip: Carhartt jackets run generous — if you're between sizes, take the smaller one.

For jackets, coats, vests, shirts and sweatshirts, choose based on your chest measurement first.
For pants, shorts and bib overalls, choose based on your waist measurement.
For workwear, layering or extra movement, we suggest sizing up if you are between sizes.
The thermoneutral zone is the temperature range where the body can maintain its core temperature with little to no extra energy expenditure. For humans, this range is quite narrow at 21–28 °C, but for horses it’s much broader at 5–25 °C.
This difference means we should avoid rugging horses based on how cold we feel. Over-rugging can lead to serious health issues, including metabolic problems and thermoregulatory dysfunction.
Tips for Choosing a Winter Rug Weight

Clipped horses may need a heavier gram fill to stay comfortable.

Remember: horses warm themselves more easily than they cool down under a rug. If unsure, choose a lighter rug.
