I need help choosing a rug

We have a comprehensive rug guide here to help you choose the best rug for your horse

What size rug should I buy?

Horse Cover Sizing Chart nztack

What Fill do I need?

Please see the bellow guide, this is a guide only and factors individual to each horse such as wind chill and your horses age and weight should be taken into account.

A thermoneutral zone is the temperature range in which the body temperature is maintained with little to no energy expenditure.

Unlike humans that have a narrow thermoregulatory range of 21°C to 28 °C, horses thermoregulatory zone is 5°C to 25°C.

This means it’s extremely important not to rug our horses based on how cold we are, as your horse will likely be comfortable down to temperatures as low as 5°C and over ruging can cause serious health issues such as metabolic and thermoregulatory disfunction.

As a general rule of thumb, we don’t recommend the use of a filled rug until temperatures drop below 10°C to 5°C, taking into account the individual needs of your horse.
