A high-calorie gel for animals that need to gain condition quickly, or that won't eat.
It is highly palatable, so an animal off its food will often take it from a finger or a paw when it won't touch a bowl. Useful for picky eaters, young stock, nursing mothers, dogs recovering from surgery or illness, hard-working and hunting dogs, and older animals dropping condition.
What's in it
Corn syrup, soybean oil, malt syrup, fish oil, cod liver oil and hydrolysed soy protein, with vitamins A, D3, E and the B group, plus iron, magnesium and potassium iodide.
How to give it
- To stimulate appetite during recovery — 10g per 5kg bodyweight daily
- As a primary energy source — 15g per 5kg bodyweight daily, or as required
Off a finger, in a dish, smeared on the paws, or straight into the mouth. The tube has an aluminium seal under the cap — remove it before first use.

The thermoneutral zone is the temperature range where the body can maintain its core temperature with little to no extra energy expenditure. Humans need it much warmer, at around 25–30 °C, but for horses it’s much broader at 5–25 °C.
This difference means we should avoid rugging horses based on how cold we feel. Over-rugging can lead to serious health issues, including metabolic problems and thermoregulatory dysfunction.
Tips for Choosing a Winter Rug Weight

Clipped horses may need a heavier gram fill to stay comfortable.

Remember: horses warm themselves more easily than they cool down under a rug. If unsure, choose a lighter rug.

Check your horse regularly to make sure they are neither too hot nor too cold.

Consider your horse’s age and natural ability to stay warm.

As a general guide, a healthy unclipped horse with shelter usually doesn't need a winter rug until it feels colder than about 5 °C, but always adjust for your horse’s individual needs.

Always ensure rugs are waterproof. A wet rug is worse than no rug at all.
