A high-dose B-vitamin, magnesium and tryptophan paste in a 30g syringe โ for the horse that gets wound up before it's been asked to do anything.
Signs it's aimed at
Picky eating, pacing the fence or box, sweating up, loose manure, running the race before it starts, no concentration, irritable or spooky behaviour, and unwillingness to work.
What's in it
B1, B2, B3 and B6 at high dose, plus magnesium and tryptophan. Deficiencies in B-group vitamins, magnesium or tryptophan have been linked to nervousness and hyperexcitability, and supplementing them has been reported to work as a mood stabiliser.
There's a knock-on effect too โ nervous stress upsets the gut, disrupting the balance of microflora and letting pathogens get a foothold.
Competing
Contains no prohibited substances, so it's suitable for racing and competition horses. Always check your own discipline's rules.
A syringe is handy for a one-off โ a float trip, a first outing, the farrier. For an ongoing problem, look at a daily powder instead.

FAQ
All your questions, answered.

The thermoneutral zone is the temperature range where the body can maintain its core temperature with little to no extra energy expenditure. For humans, this range is quite narrow at 21โ28 ยฐC, but for horses itโs much broader at 5โ25 ยฐC.
This difference means we should avoid rugging horses based on how cold we feel. Over-rugging can lead to serious health issues, including metabolic problems and thermoregulatory dysfunction.
Tips for Choosing a Winter Rug Weight
-
Clipped horses may need a heavier gram fill to stay comfortable.
-
Remember: horses warm themselves more easily than they cool down under a rug. If unsure, choose a lighter rug.
-
Check your horse regularly to make sure they are neither too hot nor too cold.
-
Consider your horseโs age and natural ability to stay warm.
-
As a general guide, rugging is usually appropriate when temperatures drop below 5โ10 ยฐC, but always adjust for your horseโs individual needs.
-
Always ensure rugs are waterproof. A wet rug is worse than no rug at all.
This is anย indicative guide only. Always take into account factors such as wind chill, your horseโs age, weight, and condition.
