Rug Fill / Weight Guide
The thermoneutral zone is the temperature range where the body can maintain its core temperature with little to no extra energy expenditure. For humans, this range is quite narrow at 21–28 °C, but for horses it’s much broader at 5–25 °C.
This difference means we should avoid rugging horses based on how cold we feel. Over-rugging can lead to serious health issues, including metabolic problems and thermoregulatory dysfunction.
Tips for Choosing a Winter Rug Weight
-
Clipped horses may need a heavier gram fill to stay comfortable.
-
Remember: horses warm themselves more easily than they cool down under a rug. If unsure, choose a lighter rug.
-
Check your horse regularly to make sure they are neither too hot nor too cold.
-
Consider your horse’s age and natural ability to stay warm.
-
As a general guide, rugging is usually appropriate when temperatures drop below 5–10 °C, but always adjust for your horse’s individual needs.
-
Always ensure rugs are waterproof. A wet rug is worse than no rug at all.
This is an indicative guide only. Always take into account factors such as wind chill, your horse’s age, weight, and condition.

One of the world's most beloved bridles
NOSEBAND
The noseband also features a whole new design. It does not put any pressure on the teeth from the outside which reduces possible bit-related issues.
The bows that lie over the bridge of the nose are flexible so you can always ensure a perfect custom fit for every horse. The noseband has a decorative seam and a softly padded pull-back fastening.
You can change the noseband to meet different needs. You can find many great designs in our web shop.
HEADPIECE
The neckpiece of the bridle has a completely new and fan-shaped design, offering the best possible pressure relief for the sensitive neck.
The bridle does not come with a throat latch - please add separately from here.
CHEEK PIECES
The cheek pieces are flat with regular hooks and our patent pending Cradles?, which allow the bit to suspend in the horse's mouth. This helps to further relieve the pressure on the poll. Our cradles are selectable and constructed to be easily "hooked on and off."
BROWBAND
The browband has our unique patent pending "Click-it?? design, which allows you to swap it in a few seconds, even when the horse is already wearing the bridle. The "Click It"? buttons are blue, with the PS-logo on it.
If you're choosing between two sizes, we recommend that you go for the larger one. For a proper fit the bendable bows need to be adjusted individually to fit your horse. Please have a look at the product images or contact the PSOS customer service team to help you with the fitting.
Note:
- The throatlatch is not included with the bridle.
- The crystal browband is not included with the bridle.
- The snap hock is not included with the bridle.

PS of Sweden High Jump Bridle
Optimal bridle for horses that are forward-going but very sensitive to pressure. It is also a perfect choice for horses that struggle to relax and seek the bit, and horses that have moderate to severe sensitivity in the mouth.
