Why use it?
Cleaver & Marigold is a carefully crafted herbal supplement designed to support the lymphatic and glandular systems of horses, ponies, and donkeys. At Hilton Herbs, we use the whole of the Marigold (Calendula officinalis) plant, uniformly chopped to ensure superior palatability and consistency in every serving. Combined with nutrient-rich Cleavers, these two herbs are known as ‘sister herbs’ for their ability to work synergistically, enhancing each other’s beneficial effects.
This blend is particularly beneficial for stabled or older horses, especially when turnout is restricted and there is a tendency for legs to become filled or swollen. It helps to maintain healthy lymphatic flow, support soft tissue integrity, and assist in the management of fluid retention. Cleaver & Marigold is also an ideal choice for horses with conditions such as CPL (Chronic Progressive Lymphedema), where supporting lymphatic drainage and tissue health is essential.
Use in conjunction with stable bandaging where appropriate to further encourage circulation and reduce soft swellings. Gentle yet effective, Cleaver & Marigold offers a natural way to help your horse feel more comfortable and supported.

How do I use it?
Add to feed daily. Where possible, split the required amount across two feeds. A 50ml scoop is included in the bag and full instructions will be found on the packaging. Please allow up to a month for full benefits to be seen.

The thermoneutral zone is the temperature range where the body can maintain its core temperature with little to no extra energy expenditure. For humans, this range is quite narrow at 21–28 °C, but for horses it’s much broader at 5–25 °C.
This difference means we should avoid rugging horses based on how cold we feel. Over-rugging can lead to serious health issues, including metabolic problems and thermoregulatory dysfunction.
Tips for Choosing a Winter Rug Weight

Clipped horses may need a heavier gram fill to stay comfortable.

Remember: horses warm themselves more easily than they cool down under a rug. If unsure, choose a lighter rug.

Check your horse regularly to make sure they are neither too hot nor too cold.

Consider your horse’s age and natural ability to stay warm.

As a general guide, rugging is usually appropriate when temperatures drop below 5–10 °C, but always adjust for your horse’s individual needs.
