The blue comes from oxidising the carbon steel during forging, not from a coating, and it is meant to discolour fairly quickly in use. That is the point: the reaction encourages salivation and gets a horse taking the bit more readily. Zilco list this one as the Medium in their blue range.

Loose rings with a lozenge shaped centre link

Blue finish achieved by oxidising the carbon steel during forging

Designed to discolour with use, which encourages salivation

Mouthpiece thickness 14mm

Ring diameter 75mm

Size 14cm (5 1/2")
